New Zealand's Education system has three levels:

• Primary (ages 5 ・12)
• Secondary (ages 13 ・17)
• Tertiary (ages 18+)

New Zealand operates a British based, flexible education system that means students can move around New Zealand while studying because secondary schools and tertiary institutions work on a national system. 

The academic year begins in late January until early December with most schools and institutions beginning classes in January/February each year.  A number of schools also have a mid-year intake.  English language schools enrol students at any time throughout the year.
